What are the advantages of hiring a professional?
A professional photographer has the experience, right equipment and use a professional colour printing laboratory that is in the business of providing high quality photographic prints. When you think about the cost of photography, remember that the photographer's fee is only part of your investment: You, your parents, your extended family and your friends will be investing time with the photographer during your wedding. Don't waste time on your wedding day with a photographer who won't produce results you love!
Do you only photograph weddings?
No - I am also an Multi award winning portrait photographer.
What about portrait photography?
Why not? Portraits can be done in a spontaneous way, too. I love being able to capture a moment in life of a happy family.
What is a photojournalistic approach to wedding photography?
The answer to that question has been debated for many years and will likely continue to be the topic of many discussions in the future! Basically it is campturing events as they happen like documenting the day.
Do you use digital or film cameras for weddings?
Digital cameras have made an incredible progress lately and I happily trust this medium to give more flexibility and being able to show some of the imagery within 24 hours of the wedding.
So what equipment do you use?
I use a high end Nikon D3 with a Df which are both full frame professional camera. I have a variety of lenses, studio flash thats portable and over 40GB of memory cards.
So who will photograph my wedding?
Once you have established that the photographer is available for your date and location, you will want to ask, "If we select your studio, will you be the photographer covering our wedding?" Some studios have several photographers and you may be speaking to a salesperson. The sample albums may have been done by photographers who do not even work for the studio anymore. By selecting Tasman Photography, I personally attend your wedding and depending on your package I may also have an assistant or another photographer but I will remain in charge of the day and be the main photographer.
I only want fun photos, no posed ones?
What if your parents want a nice picture to send out? What if your favorite aunt is late, then sits in a dark corner during the reception? Do you want her excluded from your images? Posed subjects in the visual arts is classic. Most families want some posed images taken even if its only for themselves to keep. Easier to take it on the day and delete later than to say "I wish we had of ..."
Why is it cheaper to have a wedding photographed mid-week with Tasman Photography?
Main reason is choice. I understand you have more photographers to choose from and want to reward you for choosing me over all the others around. The service is still the same but its just that it will not cost you as much. It’s like buying prime real estate - weekends are like prime real estate.
When will I get the High Resolution files?
Once your package in complete a high resolution disc with all the unedited and edited images will be given to you. This is the end of the contract and you are free to print anything from this disc for personal reasons. If you are submitting images to a magazine or newspaper it is expected that you give credit to Tasman Photography.
What about an album?
I offer "Packages," each package having a set number of hours, images, and certain number of final pictures/pages in an album. It might be better to get a package that includes an album as you get a better overall dollar value and also less work for yourself. Consider ordering parents' albums too as a nice way to say Thank You. We only use Queensberry custom made albums. www.queensberry.co.nz
Who chooses the images to go into an album?
Quite simply - You Do. Once you have the proof disc and have selected the images you want in an album, I will make a proof up and send it to you via email. You can then suggest changes which will be applied. Once you are happy with the layout, the album goes into production and about 4 weeks later you will receive the finished result.
How long do you keep the images for?
I guarantee to keep the master files for two years from the date of your wedding but once I hand over the master disc it is up to you to look after it and make copies. We will endeavour to keep the files for longer than two years but cannot guarantee that.
